Structural Engineering

October 14th 2016-ZOOM!  Spaghetti and Marshmallow Structures

During today’s meeting the YA students continued their teamwork with some structural engineering. First, they had to work as a large group and put the wordless book Zoom, in order. Not only was the book wordless, but the kids couldn’t talk either. This was our first great team building experience. Next, they were given small and large marshmallows with a small number of raw spaghetti pieces. They needed to be continue radio silence as they worked together in groups to create a structure that stood tall and strong. While they were working CinC would hand out more marshmallows and more spaghetti. However, if our Young Astronauts spoke, pieces were taken away. They kids made some awesome structures and learned how to work together without talking!
